Cliffs of Moher Facilities

Something special has happened at the mighty Cliffs of Moher. The famous site is the location of a major tourism project that has created a new Visitor Experience at the Cliffs of Moher. The project, driven by Clare County Council, includes construction of an award winning eco-friendly visitor centre containing the state of the art interpretive centre, ATLANTIC EDGE, as well as state of the art visitor facilities.

The building has been sunken into the contours of the land and is covered by the grass hillside. There are also significant works at the cliff edge. Construction of the Cliffs of Moher New Visitor Experience began in April 2005 and the new facilities opened to the public on Thursday 08th February 2007.

The opening of the new centre also saw the introduction of a new visitor management plan to cope with the number of visitors that visit this inspiring location - close to one million every year.

This project has been part funded by the European Union (ERDF) under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 administered by Failte Ireland.
