Burren Ecotourism Network

The Burren Ecotourism Network is a group of 18 North Clare based tourism businesses who are committed to the principles of Ecotourism.

The network is part of a Failte Ireland pilot scheme and members provide the first Ecotourism Ireland audited and experiences experiences in Ireland. The group was initiated and is facilitated by the Burren Connect project. For more information check out our website at www.burrenecotourism.com

Our Vision is to establish the Burren as a premier internationally recognised eco-tourism region ensuring the future economic and social growth and sustainable development of its communities, environment & heritage.

We have adopted The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) 1990 definition of Ecotourism:
"Responsible Travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people" (TIES 1990)

Our members have a range of Ecotourism Ireland accredited experiences that allows you a truely unique encounter with the Burren, whether it lasts for one hour or several days. For more information on the eco-tours available please check out the BEN website.
