Walking to the Cliffs
What better way to spend a day then to put on your hiking boots and walk to the Cliffs of Moher. Walkers can access walk on the path from Fisher Street in Doolin all the way along the coast to the Cliffs. But why stop there? A path has opened that runs the full length of the Cliffs down to Hags Head or you can carry on to Liscannor. You can start your walk from the Cliffs of Moher or either of these points. The walk is 20 kilometers long in total, the walk to or from Doolin to the Cliffs will take approximately 2.5 hours (8 Kilometers) Starting at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre a round trip to Hag’s Head (12 kilometers) will take approximately 3hours. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Cliffs, 750 feet at their highest point and marvel at the sheer drops to the ocean. The Cliffs of Moher is teaming with nature and wildlife. The puffins can be viewed from the South viewing platform, look down at Goat Island, a grassy island that is the home of the puffins from April to July. Don’t be afraid to ask any of our rangers questions that you may have about the Cliffs, they are posted along the main viewing platforms and will be delighted to show you what the Cliffs has to offer.
People walking to the Cliffs of Moher who use the Cliffs of Moher facilities will be asked to pay admission, this include visitors who travel to the Cliffs by vehicle. Walkers should come prepared with sensible walking shoes or hiking boots, water and a rain jacket. Snacks and picnics are available from the Cafes in the Visitor Centre. It is not advisable to walk in windy or poor weather conditions.
