{"id":3639,"date":"2020-03-09T13:13:59","date_gmt":"2020-03-09T13:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cliffsofmoher.ie\/?p=3639"},"modified":"2022-06-24T13:42:40","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T13:42:40","slug":"public-health-advice-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cliffsofmoher.ie\/en\/public-health-advice-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Health Advice in Relation to COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"March 9th 2020,\r\n\r\nThe Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience is following public health advice in relation to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). \"\"\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCOVID-19 has now spread from China to more than 30 other countries including Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States Canada and Australia.\r\nThe Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC), which is Ireland\u2019s specialist agency for the investigation and management of communicable diseases, are the experts in this area and follows guidance from the World Health Organization and European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.\r\n\r\nThe HPSC, which is part of the Health Service Executive (HSE), sets the public health guidelines on how to deal with contagious diseases. The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience follows all of the HPSC\u2019s guidelines.\r\n\r\nIrish health officials have said that there is no requirement for health screening\/temperature checks at this time and note that this type of screening is not recommended by the World Health Organization. It is business as usual here at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience opening 8am-7pm, 7 days per week.\r\n\r\nThe HPSC will continue to closely monitor the situation and will keep us informed immediately should there be any change in the guidelines.\r\n\r\nThe coronavirus is a flu-like virus and the best way to prevent its spread it to observe good hand and respiratory hygiene habits.\r\n\r\nWash your hands frequently with soap and water. You can use an alcohol-based hand rub if your hands are not visibly dirty.\r\n\r\nPractice good respiratory hygiene \u2013 when coughing and sneezing, cover your mouth and nose. Sneeze or cough into a tissue or your elbow. Discard the tissue immediately and then wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.\r\n\r\nHealth authorities are not recommending that the general public should wear face masks.
