On April 6th 1995 a modern, multi-purpose, community library was opened in Miltown Malbay. The library was entirely funded out of the Council’s resources and would not have been possible without the co-operation of Clare V.E.C. and the Miltown Malbay Area Joint Social Employment Scheme.
Dr. Patrick J. Hillery Public Library, Miltown Malbay, has a stock of over 8,400 books for adults, and 6,400 books for children. Clare County Library’s Irish Traditional Music Collection of tapes and CDs is housed in the library, and there are four free public access internet PCs. The library has a current membership of over 1,000 readers.
