Something fascinating and really different! Earthwise runs day tours around the Eastern Burren, main Burren and the area that was once home to poet, WB Yeats – to understand the special significance of this mystical landscape through sound, dowsing (divining), monuments and sacred sites.

The tours are led by established author and speaker Jackie Queally, who has led tours since 1999 in Scotland and then Ireland. These are unique eco-wellness tours, sometimes called ‘slow tours’. You can dowse ley lines at special sites, practise mindfulness at hidden spots, explore playing and listening to sounds by water and soak in the special qualities and energies the sites hold for the discerning visitor. Travel is by own car while a van can be hired for groups. Longer tours can also be arranged to other parts of Ireland, such as Sligo, Boyne Valley, Cork and Donegal.

One of Ireland’s most famous sights, the Cliffs of Moher are entirely vertical and the cliff edge is abrupt. On a clear day the views are tremendous, with the Aran Islands etched on the waters of Galway Bay. From the cliff edge you can just hear the booming far below as the waves crash and gnaw at the soft shale and sandstone.

With a due-west exposure, sunset is the best time to visit.
