The John P Holland Centre, based in Liscannor, is a centre dedicated to the life and work of John P. Holland, a Liscannor native who developed the modern day submarine. The Centre houses a beautiful craft store and cafe with the exhibit comprising fun, interactive displays, as well as in depth information on John P Holland. It is also home to over 4000 documents, sketches and letters that once belonged to the man himself.

Opening times of the Centre are 10:00 -18:00 but please note these times are seasonal.

The John P Holland Centre is easily accessed by road from Galway (1.5hr), Ennis (35 Minutes) Limerick (1.5hr) and Dublin is approximately 3.5 hours via Limerick. The John P. Holland Centre is a 5 minute drive (R478) from Lahinch town and only 5 minutes away from the Cliffs of Moher.  Your journey may vary, so give yourself plenty of time to stop and admire the views. There is ample parking on site.

There is also a bus service from Ennis bus station (service number 350) that drops you right to fishing village of Liscannor. Please see the following link for Bus Eireann.

One of Ireland’s most famous sights, the Cliffs of Moher are entirely vertical and the cliff edge is abrupt. On a clear day the views are tremendous, with the Aran Islands etched on the waters of Galway Bay. From the cliff edge you can just hear the booming far below as the waves crash and gnaw at the soft shale and sandstone.

With a due-west exposure, sunset is the best time to visit.
