The Burren & Cliffs Explorer shuttle bus is back again for Summer 26!

The Burren & Cliffs Explorer Shuttle Bus ran its first pilot season in the summer of 2025. On the back of this first successful season, we’re delighted to say that the Burren & Cliffs Explorer will be returning for its second season on May 21st 2026, and will run for the summer until September 20th!

Burren & Cliffs Explorer Shuttle - Frequently Asked Questions

The Burren & Cliffs Explorer shuttle bus commenced on Thursday, May 21st, and will run until Sunday, September 20th, 2026

All towns and villages serviced by the shuttle have free on-street parking and public car parks.
However, there is one town—Lahinch—where a parking charge of €4 per day applies.

There is a large free public carpark in Miltown Malbay and in Lisdoonvarna. Enrances to both carparks are signposted in the towns.

 

Yes, parking is available in all towns served by the shuttle:

  • Miltown Malbay: Free parking is available at the Miltown GAA pitch.
  • Spanish Point: Parking is available at the local hotels
  • Lisdoonvarna: Free parking is available at the Pavilion and in Lisdoonvarna public car park.
  • Lahinch: Paid parking is available in the public car park (€4 per day).
  • Liscannor: Free on-street parking is available.
  • Doolin: Free parking is available behind Hotel Doolin.
  • Kilfenora: Free on-street parking.

STATUS YELLOW: Weather conditions are hazardous, and visitors are advised to exercise extra caution. E.g winds are strong and require people outdoors to take extra care, particularly near cliffside pathways and viewing platforms.

STATUS ORANGE: Weather conditions are too hazardous to visit the Cliffs. So shuttle bus will not bein operation.  E.g winds are gusting dangerously at the cliff areas, it is no longer safe for visitors to go to the cliff viewing areas. The Shuttle bus will not be in operation

STATUS RED: Weather conditions are so dangerous that the Cliffs of Moher Experience will be closed and any visitors or staff on site have been evacuated from the site. E.g winds are extremely dangerous, and it is not safe for staff to remain onsite. The Shuttle bus will not be in operation.

 

 

The Burren and Cliffs free shuttle bus connects the Cliffs of Moher Experience and The Burren National Park to various stops along North Clare and surrounding areas. Shuttles run frequently, and you can hop-on or hop-off at any stop.

Be sure to check the map to see what stops are available during your visit. You are welcome to get on and off at any of the stops. If you’re staying at nearby accommodations, you can board the shuttle at those designated stops.

If you drive to the Cliffs of Moher Experience, remember that parking spaces often fill early in the day. If you are not using the Free shuttle service, please book your ticket here.

Only children aged 16 and over are permitted to travel unaccompanied on the shuttle bus.
For safety reasons, our drivers will not allow children under 16 to travel alone.

Only certified assistance dogs are permitted on board the shuttle bus. We appreciate your understanding!

The Burren and Cliffs of Moher shuttle offers a narration service during your ride, providing valuable information about the history, culture, and natural beauty of the area. It’s a great way to learn more about the towns  and the surrounding landscape during your journey.

The Burren and Cliffs of Moher free shuttle connects the towns and villages in North Clare, and has various nearby stops along the Cliffs and the Burren region. You can hop on or off at any of the open shuttle stops throughout the day. All information is available here Shuttle Bus Page

The Day Pass is a way for us to send timetables to your email address. We will also send you a passenger survey after your trip. Remember:

  • A day pass is not mandatory
  • There is no need to pre-book. You are welcome to arrive at any shuttle stop and board the bus, where the driver will issue you with a free ticket
  • A day pass does not guarantee a seat
  • If you want to book a day pass timetables will be emailed  when you receive your day pass
  • Drivers will issue tickets onboard

No you do not need a ticket, the Burren and Cliffs Explorer operates on a first come, first served basis.

Depending on where you are starting you from. See timetable here. A full round trip takes approximately to 2 – 4 hours, depending on the time of day and the number of stops.

Shuttles run frequently, with departures every 15 – 45  minutes, depending on the time of day and season. Check the schedule here or on our website for the most up-to-date timings.

Yes, absolutely! Baby seats and buggies are very welcome on board the shuttle bus.
Kindly note that baby seats cannot be left on the shuttle bus. However, at the Cliffs of Moher Experience, staff can store the seat for you while you enjoy your visit.

There is luggage space on the Burren and Cliffs Explorer bus to carry your buggy with you.
We’ll do our best to accommodate you safely and comfortably—just let the driver know if you need any assistance when boarding.

Yes, you can hop on and off at any open shuttle stop along the route. You are free to board at other designated stops along the way. Tickets are free, please note that they on a first come first serve basis.
