Cliffs Exhibition

The Cliffs Exhibition is the exciting interpretive centre at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience. Housed at the centre of the underground building a huge domed cave contains: images, exhibits, displays & experiences that will delight young and old alike.

Visitors enter via a viewing ramp which provides access for all to the main dome. You will walk on water as you enter and follow the bird’s feet from there.

The dome is organised into four principal themed areas exploring different elements of the mighty Cliffs of Moher: OCEAN, ROCK, NATURE and MAN

Cliffs Oct-066

A selection of interactive exhibits & displays shows aspects of these themes and their connection with the Cliffs. An aerial tour entitled THE CLARE JOURNEY will appear on a central screen. This is located in the inner dome and wooden seating is supplied.

The tour continues from the central dome via a winding tunnel that evokes the many caves of the area to a theatre housing a virtual reality cliff face adventure – THE LEDGE. Keep on the outer path of the dome and continue into the left, follow this through until you reach the brown door, our audio-visual is just on the other side. Both of these short movies run continuously.’The Clare journey’ is approximately 10 minutes long, while the ‘Ledge Experience’ is about 5 minutes long.

Our new feature, POSTCARD FROM THE EDGE added in 2014, allows visitors to choose a backdrop and make a short movie of themselves to email to their friends and family back home from the media wall.

The new kids area allows younger visitors to play a fun game and learn more about wildlife at the Cliffs and create some digital artwork to email home.

The Cliffs Exhibition is a self guided tour. Allow yourself about 25-45 minutes to discover the magic of the Cliffs.

A temporary exhibit of JP Hollands Boat 1 is on display in the Cliffs Exhibition. JP Holland is the inventor of the Submarine and hailed from Liscannor the nearest village to the Cliffs of Moher. This is the first ever model of the Submarine and is on loan from Patterson Museum, New Jersey, USA. This can be viewed on your way into the Ledge Experience.

2013 was the year of the Gathering and there is a special exhibition of the most popular names in Co. Clare in the 1901 census.  Visitors can search their surname and learn more about the family history and crest.
