Doolin Ferry Co.

Travel with Doolin’s Original Ferry Company (EST. 1970) to the Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher as you join Bill O’Brien and family on the largest and most comfortable ferries on a journey to Ireland’s fascinating, traditional past.

The Aran Islands are believed to be an extension of the Burren Region in County Clare. The famous rocky landscape has helped to create its iconic image of an island divided by winding stone walls – and the stunning views from these Islands reveal an Atlantic gateway all the way from Connemara to Clare. Traditional Irish culture is alive and well on The Aran Islands and is apparent from the Islands’ ancient festivals and nightly music sessions.

Via the ferries, you can escape to any of the three Aran Islands; Inis Mo—r, Inis Mea’in and Inis Oi’rr. Walk, cycle, bus, or hitch a pony around the stunning scenery to view ancient ruins, beaches, and bountiful sea life. Then refresh yourself at a variety of traditional pubs, cafes and shops. It’s a great family day out! Whether its a full day exploring on Inis Mo—r, a nature walk on Inis Mea’in, or a family day out at the beach on Inis O’irr, there is truly something for all on the Aran Islands.

Alternatively, you can choose the very popular 1-hour cruise to view the magical Cliffs of Moher from the sea. You’ll be taken up close to the Great Sea Stack and learn about the Cliffs’ history, geology, and Ireland’s largest sea bird colony with our expert on board commentary and crew.

There are several daily departures every day from March to November although reservations are recommended. You will board the ferry at Doolin Ferry – just look for the DOOLIN FERRY (est.1970) ticket office and Bill O’Brien’s name over the door.

One of Ireland’s most famous sights, the Cliffs of Moher are entirely vertical and the cliff edge is abrupt. On a clear day the views are tremendous, with the Aran Islands etched on the waters of Galway Bay. From the cliff edge you can just hear the booming far below as the waves crash and gnaw at the soft shale and sandstone.

With a due-west exposure, sunset is the best time to visit.
