November 5th 2015,
There have been a number of reports in the media about the condition of the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Path. The Rural Recreation Officer from Clare Local Development Company, Eoin Hogan has inspected the walking trail. While the recent rain storm has caused some damage to the trail surface the trail itself is robust and safe as long as users follow the guidance outlined on the trail mapcard and mapboards. In order to enjoy the trail safely it is essential that all trail users:
Stay on the official trail and do not wander to the cliff edge
Wear appropriate footwear i.e hiking boots with ankle support.
Check the weather before accessing the trail to ensure the conditions are suitable
Clare Local Development Company is working with the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre and Doolin Coast Guard on improved signage at the access points to the trail to ensure the above messages are getting to the trail users. Any queries please e-mail trails@cldc.ie
