Valentine’s Day at the Cliffs of Moher
Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is celebrated annually on February 14. Valentine’s Day originated as a Western Christian feast day honouring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and later through folk traditions, has become a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance and love all over the world. It was commonly believed that February 14th was the beginning of birds’ mating season, which added to the idea that Valentine’s Day should be a day for romance.
Valentine’s Celebrations at the Cliffs of Moher Experience
The Cliffs of Moher will be spreading the love by handing out Love Heart Sweets to all visitors on Tuesday 14th February 2023.

Love Birds
Our resident love birds are wishing all our friends and visitors a happy Valentine’s Day!
Puffins are noted for their tenderness and devotion to their mate. They mate for life and a couple can stay together for over 20 years! They raise their single chick (or puffling) over the course of the summer and return each year to the same burrow with the same mate. In this lovely image, the puffins are billing (rubbing their bills together) which is part of their courtship ritual.
